97 Lt1
Hey guys,
I am about to purchase a 97 LT1. I have been doing alot of reading about stuff on the board. I just want to make sure that I got it straight. For a 97 I would just need to have the PCM sent out and have the VATS deleted and I am good to go correct? Or did I screw that up. By the way it is going into an 89 RS. Thanks.

You are also going to have to run 2 rear o2's past the cat. i would have them deleted when you get the vats taken care of. Oh and have them get rid of that pesky speed limiter if the car was equipt with one.

Hey guys another question.
This engine originally had an auto trans. I am going to bolt up my T-5. Will my stock flywheel and everything from the 305 bolt right up? Or am I going to have to change anything. Thanks again.

Not at all, just use the 305 flywheel and you'll be good to go. I would highly recommend getting a better clutch though. I've been using a Centerforce Dual Friction for the past 2 years and its been incredible. Oh yeah, and I'm using a T-5 too.
Another thing you will want to do though is when you have your computer programmed, be sure they give you a program from a manual car, you wont throw and trouble codes and it will idle correctly.

i would get the fly wheel for your car the 97... since the starters are different im sure and you'd be using a starter for the 97.. it should still be fine with your trans.. i dont know much about the t5 ;/
