84 305 to 90 350 flywheel change
84 305 to 90 350 flywheel change
Alright heres the deal. I bought an 90 350 out of a Caprice today with an automatic tranny. The current motor in the car is a 305 HO from an 84 with a wc t-5 From what I can tell from reading in the archives that on the new motors which I am upgrading to, It seems like I am going to need a flywheel with 168 teeth and also the starter for the new models. Other than that I cant think of anything else that needs to be changed over regarding the flywheel. I just would like some imput to assure me that this is correct. If it is where would a good place to get a 168 flywheel? ebay? junkyard? or other? It doesnt have to be new. Just some suggestions and relative price ranges would be nice.

You do not "need" a 14" flywheel. In fact, it will not work at all. The starter for it will not fit in your bell housing.
You need a 12-3/4" one, with 153 teeth. The stock one for a 86-92 Camaro/Firebird 305 is the one to get.

Alright thanks fella, I just wanted to make sure before the purchase. I have one that fits an 84 and deep down I was kinda hoping it would fit but guess I'll have to watch out for one through the classifieds, ebay, or maybe contact hawks to see if they by chance have on.
Thanks again
