If you plan to run on the freeway alot I suggest the lock-up..with a non lockup you need to run a good tranny cooler....700r4 is the easier swap if you ask me.....now on the track only car I suggest a th350 gear ratio is a bit better.
If your reasoning behind wanting the 700 is the overdrive then that tells me that you plan on driving this car on the street a lot more than at the track, if at all at the track. So you should definatley go with the 700.
As for the lock up and non lock up, that has to do with the torque converter. The lock up feature locks the torque converter, electronically, at a certain RPM to give you better gas mileage, among other things. It locks it at the same speed as the engine. I'm sure someone else can explain it a little better than me, but I hope I gave you the basic idea. And please, if I am incorrect about anything, someone correct me.

I'd go with the lock-up version if the vehicle is driven regularly on the street.
