600hp foged crank needed?
if i was building a 600 flywheel hp engine would forged rods and crank be a MUST or could i get by with eagle cast steel crank? i don't want to be cheap and build a crappy motor but i don't want to pay more for stuff that i don't need, but i'm guessing forged internals wouldn't be a bad idea for 600hp applications, just looking for good opinions..i should have done a serch but i don't feel like it so just answer the question please

I dont have the noleage to back up this answer...
but if I were building a 600 fwhp, yes forged rotating
assembly would be a must.
Now that I think of it.. ull have to spin pretty high to get
that number (depending on engine displacement) ...
An iron crank becomes flexible at high speeds, forged
is a must.
What size engine? The bigger the engine, the more tame it will be

i want to build a 357 or maybe a 377 (not sure on how to attain that cubic inch) or possibly built up a 406, but yes i have no chice but to go with foged now because i amgoing to be running around 8.5-9.0:1 compression and running the stage II d-1sc procharger at 18 psi with 3 core IC but thanks for the advice all i need is to find a block and start building the engine but i'm just doing my fair share of research before i jump in and waste a whole bunch of money, i figure this whole engine set up will run me around 9 grand (including supercharger) so i don't want to blow it up the first 10 miles

If you are building a 357 or a 377, you will be turning over 7k rpm to make those numbers, so you will definately want a forged crankshaft.
Although, my friend making about 500 horsepower with a 383 has been running a .010/.030 Scat cast crank for 2 years now spinning 7200+ rpm. All in how lucky you think you are...
