LT-1 build up.... 375-400hp
What would it take to get to 375-400 hp and what parts would it require? How much horsepower do headers, cat back, Lt-4 intake, k&n filter and the other basic bolt ons produce? If you guys can help it would be appreciated...Oh and this is a 1995 LT-1 from a trans am

Exhaust (headers, y-pipe and catback) is probably worth about 20-30hp on a good running LT1. The K&N filter might get you about 5hp.
Probably the thing you'd get the biggest boost out of though, is a better cam. That will also get you more out of the new exhaust system too.

are you talking fwhp or rwhp..
the standard bolt-ons will get you into the low 300s for fwhp (headers, catback, intake, electric water pump, programming) my car dynos 289/328 to the wheels with a manual..
now for rwhp that is a different ballgame, I am shooting for 400+ with my next build up.. I have fully ported and polished heads with new springs and larger valves waiting to go in, a custom roller cam matched to the head flow numbers, 1.6 pro magnum rockers, comp R lifters, and on top of that have a baseline custom program to go in the computer to get it to the dyno where it will really get tuned..
Lloyd Elliot (nighttrain66@msn.com) did all my headwork and had the custom cam ground, he sells matched packages... not sure of his new prices though..
My cost for the new build up thus far:
heads $1000
custom cam $400
lifters $200
30lb svo fuel injectors $200
roller rockers $250
pushrods $110
miscellaneous $150
to get to the 400 rwhp range cost bucks.. there is the nitrous option if you choose to go that route. Thunderracing sells TNT nitrous systems that are regarded as some of the best..

No, I am just refering to flywheel horsepower. As for the cam....which cam works well with stock heads cause I want to use all I can from the stock heads. My goal is to max out the HP while using stock heads..Thanks

I thought the same thing. My goal is to be able to hit 12.90 in the 1/4 mile...I will prolly end up going to a 3.42 rear gear from a 2.73....I want to use long tube headers " who makes good LT headers without a high price", with a y-pipe " who makes a good y pipe to fit the headers", and prolly a hooker header cat back, Lt-4 intake, K&N CAI and swap to 3.42 gears...DO you think I will get close to my goal with these parts. WIll a GM hot cam work with stock heads with upgraded valvetrain of course..

the LT1 forum will confirm that.. the car runs 13.4s at 105 in street trim
it is after all a stock engine with no internal work, when that changes with the custom heads and cam I would be very surprised if it dynos under 400 as this is a proven combo that is going on..
Back to the original post, to get your 375 fwhp, a cam and valvespring change plus all the bolt-ons I previously mentioned will get you there.. go to the site I linked above and do a search for XE 224/230.. that cam will get you 330 or so to the wheels and still be quite driveable...
you have an auto too, that makes a difference, a high 12 can be had with bolt-ons and a decent vigilante stall converter, for the simple reason that autos are easier to launch well, and have more torque off the line due to the converter flash..

Funny, when I saw this thread I thought he was talking about a 70's LT-1 and not an LT1, but then realized he misspelled it.
