Flywheel ?'s and other l05 questions

Hey fellas.. I'm lookin to put an l05 caprice engine in my 84 z that origionaly had the 5.0HO in it..

It's a 5 speed, and I was wondering if the flywheel is weighted differently for the newer (92) caprice engine than the one that was behind the HO

Any ideas?

Also what other problems will I run into?

Use an '86-up 3rd gen flywheel, no other problems there.

I understand the LO5 doesn't have any mechanical fuel pump provision (the mounting boss is there, but no machining for the rod).

so then all I'd have to do is use an electric pump, right?

One other thing...

I have a set of LB9 heads sitting around here.. what would putting those heads on this engine do?

I figure it'll raise the compression ratio, but how much?

Also, would it make any more power than the stock caprice heads?

What about head porting on the caprice heads? Worth it? Or just do a valve job on my LB9's and slap em on?

Worth it to port the LB9 heads and put on the LO5. Even more so if you put in 1.94" intake valves while you're at it.

Not worth it to port the LO5 heads.

what would that bump my compression ratio up to?

Heck, what's the stock compression ratio on the l05?

Around 9:1. Use thick composite gaskets, and unshroud the valves a little while doing the porting, and compression will be fine.

The LO5 is around 9.0:1.

The L69 had 9.5:1, as did the '85-'86 LG4 and LB9.

Later engines like '87 LG4, '87-up LB9, L98, and LO3 had 9.3:1.

So if I just cleaned up these heads and bolted them on, what would I be looking at, compression ratio wise?
