I made my decision and took the plasma cutter to the 2nd gen. This will be a fun project.
In the meantime, gaze at two racing machines that will kick anyones vehicle 0-40.

i think thats a cool *** idea. screw everyone else if ya wanna do it. I would use the second gen if it were mine since i beleive there is gonna be less room in the third and the wiriong of the car is less complicated so there wont be as much hacking, just seems it would be a cleaner install in a second

As far as hacking goes, I am cutting out the underneath of the car and building a full tube chassis.

Is it a nitro Harley? I don't know about the bike, but the dogs hit their top speed of 40 to 45 in under 2 seconds, or roughly two to three steps.
I would love to take one of those nitro Harleys for a spin sometime.

Wait, I have a question. The origional post said:
Where is the back half? Half of a V10 is a V5, or one side of a V10 is a \ 5. Do you have a V5? A \ 5? Or maybe the other side; a / 5? Last time I checked, the V10 isn't a 2 piece front to back motor. What gives?

I aquired half of a Viper (the front half).

Gone to the dogs.
Ok, for the guy asking about which half of the car has the motor in it, on a Viper that would be the front half. Careful reading of the original post reveals it's the front half that was acquired by our deep pocketed engine swapper. Good thing he looked here first, to put a few good minds to work on this problem. Half the engine would be better on gas though, so get out the skillsaw.
After extensive research on this problem, and based on my own extensive experience with skinny and exploited dogs, I have concluded the V10 swap is not the best choice here for performance. Obviously the brute force of those whippet dogs has been overlooked.
F-Buddy Motorsports has made a set of mounting brackets to allow the installation of a treadmill in a thirdgen engine bay, for up to three whippet dogs. The battery and distributor remain, and delivers a timed spark to the dogs butts when the accelerator is depressed. A Packs-It-In supercharger force feeds a mixture of Alpo and tap water, with an optional Starbuck's injection system for added boost. A picture of a cat is mounted in place of the radiator, and you are off to the races!
By the way, I have an LO3 Firebird, and I will race anyone's dog, any time.
All joking aside, can't wait to see how your project turns out.

The dogs are Greyhounds, a Whippet is half a Greyhound...lol!!
I thought about the treadmill already, but I would need a smaller set of treadmills in front of the larger ones for the bunnies to run on...and there is just not quite enough room for them.
Enough with the halves already as I now have half a 2nd gen.
Oh, I also have half a 3rg gen rearend after the weekend, I got good traction and blew it up going into second gear. Spent a good amount of time in the middle of the road with a coffee can!
Half a good day!

i honestly dont know his actual 1/8thmile times, but he lets out at half track because theres not enough shutdown space.... and still runs a 5second time.

Glad to know Lonestar has a sense of humor. Those are nice dogs, and I saw your third gen project on another thread, with the air cleaner poking out of the hood. Cool.
I used to have a 2nd gen Camaro, '73, slightly built by a mechanic, ratchet shifter, tach and huge meats out back--black with racing stripes and aluminum slot mags, 15 front and 16 rear with a lowered front end and airshocks. It would light em up, and my driveway had many sets of twin patches from when I blipped the throttle. Did brakestands at drivethroughs, and absolutely smoked a Porsche from a stoplight. Still miss that car.
I am a Thirdgen man now, though, no looking back. Just discovered a neutral safety switch issue today--key not releasing in park, but still starts fine. So I need King Arthur to remove the key from the ignition. Even so, in 15,000 miles of driving my 13 year old Bird, all I've had to pay for is a new battery. Can't say that for a lot of new cars. And it's not like I baby the car all the time either. Had to teach some guy a lesson on an onramp today, must have been pulling 2 g's.
Oh yeah, and the nitro bikes sound scary as hell. I'll stick to cars thanks. Also, that wasn't me confused about half an engine etc. I was trying to enlighten the guy who was asking about it. I think someone was into the Budweisers.

The 454 block you are talking about is a GEN VI big block from the late 60's and early 70's. It is a not so serious cast iron piece that is relitavely easy to come by and could be purchased for a few hunderd bucks. It is also the same block used for the 427 BBC. Hovever, it's a different 427 than the GEN III block that cost $7,000.

This has strayed from any reasonable 3rd gen applicability.
