350 TPI VORTEC custom crate engine into an 85 TA

Hello all, I have taken up a project...an 85 TA that came with a 305 TPI and 700R4. I am about 8 days away from getting a 350 GM Performance Crate that has been a little bit modified with a custom VORTEC TPI baseplate. compression 9.6 to 1, cam lift = .525, duration 218/228. Question is what can I use off of the 305 TPI setup or what else do I need to get or make sure I have to get this thing going??? i am pretty new at this so any little bit helps. Thanks in advance.

Since you got an engine with a Vortec manifold already on the motor, I am assuming you have have the heads, rockers, lifters, and pushrod already installed . You can swap all your accessory onto the new engine, distributor, oil dipstick and exhaust manifold. You will need a new oil pan if the 350 has the 1 main rear seal, some of your sensors will have to be replace such as the knock sensor. If the vortec heads has the GM 1.6 roller tip rockers, you can use your stock valve cover.

CHP made a review on the hot cammed vortec 350.

Tho it was carburated ...

It made between 400-415 hp at 6k, and 420 ft lb at 4k.

You'll have to hog out the base.. and modify or buy aftermarket

runners and TB ... for best results.

you might have to buy an egr reliocation kit if you still plan on running an erg. most of the aftermarket Tpi bas plates especially vortech bases have no accomodation for the egr.
stock runners will choke that engine, biggest problem with a TPI is getting air in. I am building an engine with the lt4 hot cam as well, i plan on reworking everything, air intake, TB, runners and base.
