"bird is breathing fire!
I just got my 'Bird moving under its own power. I had been adjusting valves so there was some oil under the car. When I went to pull it out, the tires got into the oil...it was like it was on ice. I had to move the car back and forth to try to get momentum up and get it out of the garage. This thing wants to go! I would breathe on the throttle and she would shoot to 6,000 rpm intantly. It left a spray of oil and rubber 20 feet behind me before I finally got it out of the garage!
I hope to get some video tomorrow if the weather holds up. Here is a lousy pic of it, I will get some better ones with another camera. Drool over my 590 pony 'Bird!

I took some video today, the darn thing is stuck in gravel! I don't have a video card on my pc so I need to find someone who does so I can post it. The thing is idling around 1500 and digs a hole in the ground every time I hit the gas. My fiancee wants to go drag it. I did take some photos with a much better digital camera, I will take a look at them tomorrow. Maybe too many ponies?

Specs? Let's see, where do I start?
Block started life as a '68 327/350. Extensively reworked and modified to accept other custom parts.
Crank is forged stock extensively modified to accept custom parts.
Bearings are my own design - still unpoven as of yet. I only have a few hours on this engine (just tuning and a few passes at the track).
Cam is a variable duration solid roller of my own design and specs.
Pistons are my own design and forging, 12.5:1 compression.
Heads started as 58cc camel humps, but have been filled and reworked to my own specs.
Intake base is my own casting with a weiand plenum.
Carb is a 700 double pumper tricked out.

I only got it moving under it's own power last Sunday, so I don't know what it will run yet or if I will have hood clearance issues under load.
The engine was in my s10 which ran a best of 9.89

Ok now, by the stopwatch (and I did calibrate the speedo and checked it), I am running a 0-60 time of 4.4 s. Giving a 20% error rate, that would be 5.3 s. What do you all think it will run in the 1/4?
I have my own idea based on my experience and knowledge of the car, but I am curious as to your thoughts.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Double Hump heads supposed to be 64cc, and not 58cc?
"Bearings are my own design"
If those are the main bearings or rod bearings you are talking about, I really hope that doesn't mean to put grooves in them for extra oiling. That doesn't work, and it reduces the amount of load they can handle.
Actually, I am pretty interested to know what you did with your bearings... do tell!!

Bearings are my own creation, not a fabrication on the standard design, I will tell about them if they pan out and when I am awarded the patent rights.

64cc was the norm, there are a rare few 58cc in existence (luckily my family has worked for GM since the 40's).

Good luck with getting that patent
