would these heads fit?????

I am rebuildin my 86 z28 and i was wondering if heads from a malibu that had a 305 in it would fit. The motor in my car is a 305 v8. Also would 350 heads fit on it?

As long as its a pre-87, everything will physically bolt up without changing the intake, but depending on which heads you have the valves and combustion chambers may be different sizes than your originals. 350 heads will bolt up, but you'll usually lose compression (depending on what head it is) and the larger valve sizes may be shrouded, or worse. Id stick with 305 heads.

Yes, they will bolt on.

No, you don't want 350 heads on a 305. If you have a 350, then go nuts

The only difference between the '55-86 and '87+ SBC heads is this:

- A few of the intake bolts are drilled at a different angle on '87+. No big deal, just gotta get special washers to make them work with '55-86 intake.

- '87+ has centerbolt valve covers, '55-86 has 4 of them around the outside (*side note* '55-60 has two valve cover bolts in a slightly different spot than '61-86 heads)

ok, it says they are for "Professional Products" manifolds and so, if he wanted to use say an edelbrock or holley intake those washers prob wont work, as I have seen exactly how far off the holes actually are. and no washer is going to make stock chevy intakes pre 87 fit post 87 heads.

can you find a picture, if that will work i'm all for it. I'm not trying to be an ***, it's just that i have seen the mismatch in parts and the holes were at different angles which kept the bolt from physically going trough the manifold and threading into the head, they were off by maybe 1/8"

I don't have any pics, but the washers are sorta wedge-shaped.

Elongate the holes in the intake manifold and put the washers under the bolt heads.

Mid-year 1959 change, if memory serves.
