LS1 swap killing me
Well first of all I ran outa money lol, what can a 20 year old college kid do? The engine is in and I started it with zero O2s with the JBA shorty headers. Computer only threw two codes for evap, I beleive it was P0499 and P0452. I'm assuming I would need to rip that evap canister from my 99 camaro (this baby happens to sit on top of the gas tank) and try to hook this up? or is there some other way around it? BTW, I don't have money for LS1 edit or and I can't seem to find any shops here (ND) that have such a thing. I guess it sucks doing the swap by yourself and not paying someone to do it for you. Sorry its long, any help is appreciated greatly.

That's why I want to put a carb on mine when I do it.
I don't want to have to pay a "professional" to get it running after I do the swap.
I don't know if that helped you or not
Good Luck

You could also send your ECM to www.pcmforless.com and for 100 bucks you can have such things as EGR (depending on what year LS1 you have), AIR, rear 02's, evap, speed limiter and anything else not retained for your swap.

Yeah, I tried the stock canister, it threw the code for the actual sensor that is on the ls1 canister. I think I've got it figured out now. Swapping in the gas tank + canister from the car I got the engine out of, just have to wire it.
Yup, maybe same thing I hit. There are two sets of evap tests...purge and vent. Purge is the solenoid near the fuel rail, vent is the thing back on the gas tank on 4th gens.
I hit the junkyard and found a charcoal cannister that just had two connections...one to the tank, one to the evap solenoid. That keeps the purge errors gone. For the vent errors, I ended up using LS1-Edit to disable. The old cannister is permanently vented, whereas the 4th gens use a switched vent.
And it doesn't really suck that bad doing the swap yourself, you'll know the car inside & out when you're done.

I'll have to put exhaust on it before I can hook up the O2s. Right now I've basically gotta make sure everything else is ready to go. I don't know if anyone has read much about my swap but the wiring is a custom job, sort of. I hired one of my friends, or more I suckered him into it, to wire the car using all the wiring we tore out of the wrecked car I bought (He is very good, took 1st this year in the National VICA competition for electronics). So I'm trying to get everything else sorted out before I get the custom exhaust. Right now I'm waiting on a fuel pump assembly since the one I bought obviously will not work in that tank without some serious modifications to the bucket. BTW, this sucks, I don't think I will do it this way ever again lol.
