L48 = generic 350 4-barrel from the 70s

Came in everything from Vettes to trucks to Z28s to El Caminos. Even if it had a different "L" number like trucks, it was still the same motor; for that matter, a 350 2-barrel was the same long block, with a different intake manifold, and everything else pretty much the same.

8.3:1, 882 heads, 929 cam, yadda yadda yadda

It has potential, you just need to replace everything except the shortblock, heads, cam, and intake.

I have an L48 out of a '79 Z28 in my Camaro.

Its definitely no fire breather. My old 5.0L HO motor was quite a bit faster than the 350 (L48) thats in it now.

Its a low compression motor with a crappy set of heads and a cam with no rocks at all.

It has potential, but you gotta replace almost everything in/on the block.
