vortec heads

I'm putting a 350 with vortec heads into my 305 TPI trans am... I know i need a new tpi base plate for the heads at the absolute minimum... I'm wondering if the ac, alternator mounts etc will bolt up to the heads correctly.. the block is from a 1976 1/2 ton if it matters..

thanks

Hello,
check to see if the heads have the came accesorie bolt holes. if not then you will have to figure some thing else out. There may be a difference in the exaust bolt locations from some rummors I have head but don't know for sure
later and

A serpentine set-up will bolt to the heads. The exhaust bolt locations are also the same as any other small block Gen I or II. Not sure about the compatability of the lower part of the brackets and that block.

Car: Depends on what day it is..
Engine: Um, Chevy small-block
Transmission: One that shifts
Axle/Gears: Got those too...
I used VORTEC heads on my 383 swap and had absolutely no problems getting things to bolt to them. I also used a late model roller cam block so I did not have any problems there either.

Biggest glitch I had was bolting runners to the VORTEC TPI manifold- I used SLP runners and had to gring them in two locations to get them to clear the vertical intake maniflod bolts. I speculate that large tube runners like ACCEL or ASM and stock runners would not have a problem.

A Gen. I block is a Gen. I block, for the most part. The bolt patterns are the same. I have a "010" block from a late 70's Blazer and it bolts up the same externally as my '96 "880" Vortec truck block. Both of which bolt up identically as the 305 LG4 block in my Caprice.

Do you remember the 350 H.O. swap? The kit that included a 355 hp 350, dual cats, etc.? That came with a different chip. I assume you are going to have someone burn a custom?
