2 big issues (if any really) should be engine mount brackets for teh 4.3 (not sure how they line up compared to the sbc) and emmissions. Other than that, just follow any similar sbc V8 swap(pretty much).

Welcome aboard.

This was addressed not too long ago. As was stated then, the 4.3 is basically a 350 that's missing the two front cylinders. Therefore, the transmission mounting is the same as Chevy V8's, but the transmission that comes with this 4.3 won't quite work as-is in a 3rd gen.

You need more than the engine and transmission - you need all the computer controls and sensors as well. And, nobody yet makes exhaust that mounts to the engine in our chassis. So, custom exhaust is required.

It is possible, it has been done, but is not a "bolt in", and it's typically easier, and cheaper, to get a V8 out of a 3rd gen and swap it in.

It's often cheaper to sell the V6 car and buy a factory V8 car. But, nice V8 cars are getting a little harder to find (without spending a lot of money).

Engine: Pos 2.8 pulled and replaced with a 350 tpi motor converted to carb.
Transmission: 700r4, vette servo, shift kit, hayden 15"x8" trans cooler.
Yeah this one, do a search and you'll find all the answers you need.

BTW the v8 mounts go infront of the area the v6 mounts are now.

Carbed v8 is an easy swap. Completed mine in two days.

Look into a mallory 4309. Mine works perfect.

BTW when the time comes if you dont have the cash for some headders and you end up with the stock exhaust manifolds (like i did) Dont be a bone head and try to cut a y pipe off a v8 car. Go to autozone, $80 gets you a brand new one, also you'll need an exhaust donut to take up the area the heat riser took up between the pass side exhaust manifold and y pipe. Mine was $5 at pepboys.

The ONLY wiring i had to do was to make my starter wires slightly longer. BUT i also had an aftermarket fan switch installed before the swap.

Come to think of it i still never got a working speedo in my car
Damn old cable speedo!!

It was probably my posts that five7 was talking about. I've got a complete 4.3 auto setup, and I want to do the exact same thing in an 89 2.8. I want to mate it to a manual trans though. Search for some of my posts a couple of weeks ago. There were some really helpful replies. Especially the last post. You might also want to check some S-10 sites where they did 4.3 and sbc swaps. A lot is shared between them. Good luck. Hopefully I can make mine happen some day.

only major problem is you'd need to relocate the motor mounts rearward a inch or two.
