LS1 Swap with Vette engine

I've been doing my research and everything, but havn't really been able to find anything about using the LS1 out of a vette. I know the accesory bracket is different then the ones in firebirds/camaro, but not sure if that would still fit, or if theres other things on the engine that gotta be changed, ex. headers.

But i got hold of a LS1 out of a 2002 C5, that had 4500 miles on it. It was a good deal plus i got extras on it that i can sell.

I'm very excited about this project and can't wait for it to be done. I have a 91 RS, thats currently red, but its gonna be fully repainted to Black and a Z28 clone/look a like. 91-92 Z28's are my favorite camaro.

Heres a pic of the engine i got. Only picture i could get since i havn't been up to my dads yet when he got it out of the van.

thanks

i think you have to change out to a fbody oil pan .. the vette one wont fit

the accessories probably have to be moved around or get the brackets from the fbody but they still might work in the vette config

and then theres the transmission issue.. vettes use a transaxle so you'll need a complete swap from an fbody be it 6 speed or auto

yeah now that u mention it i remember hearing somewhere about the oil pan.

I didn't get a trany yet, cause like you said the vette used a transaxle, but it did come with a clutch and stuff. So i still gotta find the t-56 and bellhousing.

But does anyone know exactly what can be done with the accesory brackets, if i can use em, or need new ones?

You'll have the change the oil pan to a Z28/Trans Am oil pan. The Corvette pan will not fit. Period.

The exhaust manifolds might be different too, but I don't know for sure about that.

The electronic throttle can be made to work fairly easy. You will have to change exhaust manifolds also. 01 and 02 manifolds are the flow the best.

The brackets are slightly different also. I believe the Vette alt is on the upper right (facing the engine) the f-body is on the lower right.

Good luck with the swap.
