73 Firebird Esprit Swap

I got a killer deal on a slightly modded engine out of my friends 73 firebird. Its just the 350, no tranny or anything.
out of that car. I have a 2.8 V6 with a T5. What options do I have for the transmission? Doesnt the Pontiac engine have a diffrent bolt pattern? Also, Can I stick an automatic in there temporarily until I get my other engine and the 6 speed I plan on getting?

thanks

you;ll need to combine the Poncho 455 sticky w/the V6-->V8 swap sticky.
And for auto options, & manual, you need to get the B-O-P bellhousing/bolt pattern ones.

you will need the buick , olds, pontiac bolt pattern transmission and then your going to have to do something with your torque arm and engine mounts youll need different headers which you can buy ..it can be done its just alot more involved than a chevy 350 swap is in these cars

do you mean the manifolds on the pontiac 350 your getting ?

it depends on how they angle out and i seriously doubt your going to find an y pipe for them that will fit in your car youll need headers to make it work .....

You could do that, and have a custom Y pipe made. You will need the proper mounts. And of course, everything will be kinda backwards. You will need a trans with a BOP pattern, or an adapter plate. I have seen them in summit, I dont know what they run though, seems like it was under 50 bucks.

if your broke then dont even attempt it a v-8 swap alone will cost you enough but to go to a pontiac engine too your not gonna have the funds to do this project .....
