305 bored to 350????

Heres the skinny, i was talking with this guy who seems to think its possible to bore a 305 to a 350 if you take out the sleeves. Now im not the brightest guy around but i know for one thing that the walls on a 305 are pretty thin which creates problems for boring (why most of the only get to 335). His idea just sounds dangerous to me. Do you guys think thats possible or even safe/usefull?

Yea i thoght he was a little crazy for saying that. But while were on the subject i want to put some high compression pistons in but i dont know exactly how wide you can bore. i found some SRP 12.7:1 pistons at a 4.030 bore, think i can go that far?

.

nope those pistons are for a 350 block bore .30 over, even at .60 over 305 its only 3.95 bore and thats at .60 over i'd be scared to have 12.7.1 compression on a 60 over 305 lol..

what do yous guys think

You cant get a 335 by boring alone, it requires stroking too. Dont do anything to your 305, it isnt worth it. Any work put into the shortblock of a 305 could be put into a 350 have proportionally more power. Oh yeah, and tell your friend he is a dumbass.

I think your arithmetic is a little off.

305 bore is 3.736". 350 bore is 4.000". A .060" over 305 would be 3.796".... still nearly a quarter inch shy of a 350.

So, no, those pistons won't work in a 305 block.
