Opena chevy High performance mag, and look at the first few pages. There is a company that advertises on the first couple pages of every issue. They sell a shortblock for like 600 and some change. I think the call it an esky short block. Never used one, never seen one in person, so I cant say anything about the quality.

Perhaps it was Hye Tech Performance? They had a shortblock (maybe have been unassembled) for somewhere around that price range... Don't think they have a webpage though...

I am pretty sure it was me that posted that-www.competitionproducts.com they dont show anything on there website about the engines but you have to call them for info. the only thing i didn't like about considering buying an engine from them was that the didn't have an engine that was bored .30 over or less everything was bored way over. If u dont mind that then its fine. Also i found out they don't build there own engines they come from some other manafacture and they distrubite them. It is $697 for th l98 short block with hypercautic pistons 9:1 compression or u can buy a 383 shortblock for $1100 with 11:1 compression.

$1100 for a 383 shortblock sounds sweet. I might check them out, but isn't 11:1 compression pretty high for a 383?

i bought my L98 short block from www.Unitedengine.com
cost was 650$... the one thing they did screw up on was, they installed a flat tappet cam in a roller block. also the pistons were flat tops. but i wont complain about the pistons cause it helped raise the compression. (flat tops with 4 valve reliefs)
good engine.. bored .030 over.. good price too.
its best to call them rather than deal over the net..

hey guys, this place sells some might cool stuff very cheap and higly recoomended by a buddy that lives near me and his dad who owns a shop called Hunt Automotive and Muffler.
http://theenginestore.com/
They are the people i'm buying my heads from. $399 shipped, and 200cc intake runners, 2.02 intake valve, and 1.6 exhaust valves. 64cc also, so my block will be mighty strong. Tim(the owner of hunt automotive) recoomends them to everyone and down here at Gateway(the local drag strip) he runs guys using cars he's tuned with these heads running high 10's low 11's, so..... good enough for me.
And iunno about the block yet.... But if i can get ahold of them to see what they can give me a block with the setup i require for i'll tlel ya but if you guys got more time chekc it up, but everytime i have called today i get voicemail.
