Much better ways to get horsepower than that kit. Trust me, I pieced together my own LT4 conversion and in the long run, with my goals, I would have been much better off going another route. I would suggest:

-Ported LT1 heads
-Port matched LT1 intake
-CC306 cam
-stock throttle body bored to 52mm
-used 30# injectors
-1.6 rockers with hardned pushrods/guideplates
-Comp R lifters
-new timing chain

This is just a quick, simple suggestion that will get you more power than an LT4 conversion for the same if not much less money depending on what you get used or new. Check the boards camaroz28.com for some good combos.

Im with texas, only change I would make, instead of porting the stock heads, I suggest getting the LT4 heads.

what does a average lt1 cost? ive seen some cars around here for like 4,000 with lt1 i should just buy the car and swap it. itd be cheaper then just buying the engine alone cause then i got a parts car... and A/C if i want again lol

For ten grand, I could build one hella fast lt1. I got my LT1 with t56 for 2200 shipped to my door off ebay. Try Cleveland Pick-A-Part in Cleveland (obviously). Thats where I got mine and they are real down to earth guys. Tell them your looking for an LT1 and tranny combo and they may just have one. Then i'd order those lt4 heads, lt4 intake, 1.6 roller rockers, some new valve springs and lockers, the CC306 Cam. SLP 1" 3/4 headers or longtubes, and an aluminum driveshaft. You'll have a 370 rwhp engine for sure and still have plenty of cash left over if you got 10 grand to spend. Hell with that i'd go forced induction.

Yeah the only reason I suggested LT1's was I thought he'd have a lower budget. With the budget you've got, I'd go for some ported LT4's or even AFT LT4's with a ported LT4 intake, 58mm TB, GM847 cam, long tube 1-3/4" headers, and put 400+ to the ground. Might as well go for a 12 bolt with 3.73's or even 4.10's if you get the T-56, run some slicks, and run 11's.

I'd suggest a LT1 / T56 pullout.

Add:

Heads / Cam from AI, ported stock LT1 castings.

52MM ported stock TB

SLP 1.75 shortys, reworked with different collectors and a custom Y pipe to a 3.5" catback.

a good replacement clutch and pro 5.0 shifter

4.10 gears in disc 10 bolt with a good posi if its going to stay on street tires.
