Carb or LT1 conversion
I've searched and read about both conversions but, I'm wondering which will be the "easiest". I would like to build a smallblock to go in my 92 camaro. I've seen Edelbrock kits claiming over 400 horse using a carbed system. I'm figuring between 3-4000 dollars for this engine.I've found a 96 firebird LT1 with 18xxx miles with the 4L60E transmission and accessories for $2000.00. What kind of performance can I expect out of the LT1. Is it more difficult than getting rid of the computer? Thanks for any advice. I will keep searching these forums.

The carb swap would be easier. The LT1 swap (for you) would be cheaper, and more than likely reap you more benefits since it's a newer system, better fuel mileage, etc.
If it were me, I'd go the "cheaper" route, than the "easier" route.
LT1
(of course just my opinion)

Having played with a lot of different setups, including the LT1, if it is something you will drive often, go for the LT1 the power is great, aftermarket supports it well, fitment is very nice, appearance is nice,
if you just want to go fast, cheap, and in a straight line, build a carb'd motor.
If you want to build a carb'd motor, get one up on the rest of the oblivious people around here and take a look at some of the gen3 motors as setups to run a carb on them are now avail.
