305 to 350 Right now man

Me and My friend r on vaction, and we wanna a put a 350 in right now....

We still got to get one, we want to get one from a junk yard but, if anyone has one near RI feel free to speak up

The plan is, get a 350, put My top end on it, Ie distrubtor carb intake heads, and prolly the cam too.

Is this straight foward? Like I just take the engine out and put this one back in right? Plug everything back up? My car shouldnt know the diffence right?.....lol

So I guess what Im asking is, am I over looking anything, is my Top end going to work with the 350.

I would make sure that the rotating assembly is good. By that I mean take it apart and do it right. Not all cars are in the yard because they were wrecked. Why do you want to rush something that could cost you so much time, money and effort in the long run?

Depends upon the "ish".

You've got a one-piece rear main seal. 80-85 Suburbans will have two-piece rear main seals, and the flywheel is different. You'll have to get a 153-tooth flywheel for the older style crank.

LG4 exhaust and air cleaner will choke the breath out of a 350, though.

there are many things you have over looked. I did this no more that 5 months ago and I am I have now recently in the last month or so got everything perfect. Things you have to look into are, if you have roller motor and your new motor be hydrolic, you cant use your cam, lifters or push rods from your 305. You can use your heads though. They will make some pretty good power for you. Things that you will have alot of fun with are. your intake, timing, and fuel delivery to the TBI as well as a new flywheel for your transmission. I had to buy a custom make racing flywheel for my conversion ($360). so its not that easy to just swap your motor that fast. If your lucky you can get your fuel delivery system to work, good luck. I had to replace everything and go Carb because the ECU couldent compensate for the displacement.
GOOD LUCK!

Why did you need a 360 dollar flywheel? He wont have many problems at all really, considering he is going to use the entire top end from his existing engine. The only thing he may have the problem with is the 2pc 1pc rear main seal thing.

the crank interface was different. because of the year change. My ECU could not compensate for the bigger bore and would dump too much fuel in the intake and stall the engine or choke it out and stall.

TBI has a lot more trouble with displacement change than CC carb does. As long as the cam is kept reasonable (and it should be if it's from a Suburban), the carb will handle the displacement change just fine.

I didn't say you said you have TBI, but ziden was relating his experiences which was with TBI. I was saying his experiences were irrelevant.

Timing light is a required tune-up toolbox item. Get one for sure.
