305 smoking engine want to swap for a 350
i have a 89 firebird formula with a 305 and a 5 speed trany. my car smokes everytime i start it, common problem i know so i want to do a swap, i have been looking around and am not sure on what to do. i work at a recycling yard and i could get my hands on a few things. but i want to do this myself, and learn along the way, but i want to put a 350 in it, i am stuck inbeetween a 350 tpi and a lt1, now i dont have that much cash to play around with but i want to know the possibilitys on what i could do to get rid of that 305?

Welcome aboard.
Getting rid of the smoke would be a lot easier.
But, assuming you have a TBI right now, the easiest would be to identify a donor vehicle with either one of those types of engines. Get everything that goes to the engine that looks different than yours. Get the fuel tank (or at least the in-tank pump). Take pictures before you take anything apart from either vehicle.
