Engine sizes

Well guys due to the fact that I now have no outside funding than that of my back pocket I need to rethink my engine plans. I would like a reliable small block that will put out 450-500 to the wheels. I want to stay Fuelie. I am thinking of a 396/402/408/422 how would I get to this displacement? What block and stroke crankshaft do I need? thanks for your help guys.

The more inches, the easier it is to get power.

If you're talking about TPI when you say "fuelie", forget it. TPI will only flow about 325 HP or so; and that's with extremely careful tuning. Spend a boatload of money on aftermarket bases and runners and such, you can get to around 375. No matter what size the motor is.... that's all the air it will let through, and HP is directly proprtional to air flow.

I don't know what you mean by "not other funding" and all that; but it's going to take a replacement aftermarket maniflod such as a MiniRam or ProRam. The Stealth Ram won't even go there; it'll flow about 425-435 HP tops.

Spend costs money; how fast are you willing to spend?
