looks like you got pretty much the exact same thing I did. '95 LT1 with all accessories, ECM, and harness with about 30K miles on it, on a wooden pallet

Timz2882: What's the deal w/ the "smaller" LT1? There wasn't even an option for anything BUT a 5.7 350 V8. In any model cars w/ a LT1 engine option, it was either the 350, or a V6.

The only other option was the L99 for Caprice. That was a 265cu.in. engine in 94-96 production years.

The used the same block. If it's got aluminum heads you're OK. There's no way to tell the difference from the outside. You could get the 265 or 350 in the caprice and they look identical. ONLY 5.7's came with aluminum heads though.

It looks more like an F-Body LT1 rather than a Caprice LT1.

You can tell by the alternator bracket.

I don't think the 265 uses the same Block as a 350 LT1 either, I believe the 265 uses a 3.75 inch bore rather than a 4 inch bore.

Drastius: Your right, the L99 has a 3.75" bore.

It is in FACT from a '95 T/A.

86z/92rs: I'm planning on using a race built 4L60e w/ a 3k converter.

sweet! How much did it run ya? I have been thinking about doing this swap myself. I found a couple motors for $750 each, with all accessories, but with 70k on the clock.

While you have it all apart, consider using the meziere or csi electric pump..

removes abit of stress off the front cam bearing and makes and makes any type of cooling system mainentance easy..

plus about 7 extra rwhp..

also you can use a real double roller timing chain.

I was thinkin' about the Cloyes Double Roller and CSI...call me paranoid, but I don't like the idea of an electric w/p. I'm sure the LT4 Timing set w/ a new w/p will be just fine. Lots of stuff in store for this thing

I meant to say they all have the 327 on the side of the block. Not sure what it means, but it's on 305's, 350's, LT1's and L99's....pretty much most small blocks. The PS pump is different on the impala/caprice motors too.

each to his own.. fwiw though my meziere has lasted through 10k of daily driving and the car is always at 170.. can't fault either decision.

It's a SteelTek....It's AWESOME. All ball bearing rollers. Stainless Steel drawers, handles, and frame, Anti-Slip sheets for the drawers, piston lift top drawer...I can't recall what the actual model number is, I'll have to check later
