LT1 Swap, using FBody A/C Comp.

Has anyone come up with a way of using the stock f-body A/C compressor in a 3rd gen? I am in a winterwonderland here.. haha and I am bored, so gonna get A/C working..

I need to acquire the stock LT1 AC Lines so i can see how close things are to the header..

Looking for advice from anyone who has AC running in their 3rd gen LT1 .

I guess 1st off.. am i wasting my time buying a stock hose for LT1 ??

Thanks

which compressor are you using, the LT1 compressor mounted in the F-body location? If so, stock lines will not work, you'll have to get creative. There was a post not too long ago where some fittings were posted that should allow you to make your own lines.

using fbody stuff.. so AC on pass side.. saw that post.. looking like you'd have to be pretty ingenious to make those custom lines.. unless i get the relocation bracket.. which i can't see me doing for the price or the bracket.. was hoping someone had successfully done it so I would have half a clue
Where im at, there isn't many people around who can do custom lines. etc..

So, no sense buying the stock lines then?

I have done it and have working a/c.

No, no sense whatsoever buying stock lines, won't work at all unless you feel like cutting away half the crossmember.

If you don't want to make custom lines, don't try and run a/c. Simple as that. It's going to take some work to get it working. If you get one of the fitting blocks in that post, you can get rubber hoses made with the correct fittings for both sides, then you just have to figure out a way to run them.

thats nice and all, but for $229 you might as well switch to Vette accessory bracket and move everything over.

Yeh, price is a bit much. As far as I know GM still carries the bracket and support braces for the Vette setup. Also they show up on EBay from time to time in the Brackets, etc section under Engines too. You'll need a Vette crank pulley too and I assume a second belt (right Texas?). (There are a couple of places that have the whole shebang for $750 [Corvette Salvage] and $1000 [Speed and Performance] if you want to get it all.)
You might also get in touch with AV-8R in the HYBRID forum @ http://lt1tech.com for the bracket setup he made to use in his '68 Camaro.
