V6 2.8L TBI Motor swap to a 350 TPI Motor!!!
Hi guys!!! What's up? I'm new to this site so I thought I would say Hi and also I have a question for you.
I recently purchased a wrecked 88 IROC-Z Camaro with a 350 TPI Motor, 700R4 Trans and rear end all in perfect condition. I have just finished swapping my 2.8L V6 TBI Motor out of my Camaro for the 350 TPI Motor, I also installed the transmission.
My problem is this, I installed the wiring harness and computer into the camaro from the 350 TPI. I have everything hooked up correctly ( I've checked it out twice now ). I can't get my fuel pump running and I have a relay that stays activated. If I hotwire the fuel pump it will come on and I can almost get the engine to turn over, but it won't start up.
I was wondering if anybody has done this swap and has run into this problem. Any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
Nick

The fuel pump for the V6 is not the same as the fuel pump for a 350 TPI. You may want to just swap the gas tanks from your donor car if it looks in better condition, or you dont feel like fiddling with it.

I don't think the fuel pump itself is the problem......like I said we can hot wire the fuel pump and get it to almost start the car up, but the problem is that we can't get any juice to the fuel pump itself.
If anybody has any other suggestions please let me know, I'm pretty stumped by this one....lol.

well its prob not completley turning over because of inadicuate fuel but im not sure why it would not be getting juice. i would say check all the wires over again and check the relay and fuses and such.
never hurts to check one more time

I just did this swap last year. Regarding the injectors, do you know if they are firing? Get a noid light from autozone and see if it lights up when cranking.
I assume wiring is the cause of your no fuel pump. I bought a painless wiring harness to avoid issues like these.
PM a guy named trickster on the boards, ask him for the wiring diagrams from your car, and the car the motor came out of, i am guessing there are some differences in how things are wired.
And, if your v6 was a tbi(which i no see that it was) you will need a different fuel pump, the tbi motors dont require the same amount of psi like a fuel injected v6 and the tuned port motors do.
So def change that.
