tbi 2 carb want turn over

I just got my motor in and went from a 5 speed to a 350 turbo and 305 engine to a 350. The distributor has been changed and wired like its suppost to. When I get in the car to try and crank it to break in the motor, it will not turn over. Its like its in drive are like if it had a clutch still, its not pushed in. I took the little clutch safety button and I have it taped down so that it want be pushed out. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Like to be driven it. It also has a new starter. Think it may be the wireing somewhere.

Wire the former clutch safety switch to a park/neutral safety switch on the shifter.

I've never had a manual tranny 3rd gen, but doesn't the switch plunger have to be out in order to activate the starter? Dumb question, maybe, since I'm not familiar with the configuration, but it seems like that's how it "should" work.

Fugg all this wiring bs, if ya just wanna fire it up and break it in and wire the thing later......Crawl under the car and jump the starter terminals with a junk screwdriver, dont let the sparks scare ya!

Got it turning over now. It was the starter wires. A 350 has 2 spots for the little wire to run to. A 305 has only one. It goes on the on closest to the engine, I had it on the one near the tire.

Now the problem is my electric pump and regulator are not pumping up any fuel to the carb after the key is been turned. It pumps some as soon as u turn the key over, after that it will not send anymore through the regulator to the carb. Any ideas how to get that fixed so I can get the thing running. I would love to break this engine in and drive the thing again.

Sounds like you better check your wiring.

Id just wire a relay to run off a switch for the fuel pump. I believe some racing sanctions require a fuel shut off switch anyway in case of a wreck.
