Ls7?

Just a quick question. Think the LS7 will be a possible motor swap?

It will fit, so it's a candidate. I'd say that anyone who could afford that engine probably isn't driving a 3rd gen, though.

With enough money anything can be done. There are a lot cheaper methods for 500hp though. No one would morgage an LS7 swap because they wanted 500hp. They would do it for the cool factor. They would also tow it behind their Bently.

I agree 500hp can be attained for much less money.

I'll have well over 500 hp for a lot less than an LS7 will cost.

but its a cam swp away from 650+ ponies fellas...and that CANT be duplicated

the cam in that motor is friggin small...its a 211/218 .598/.600 or there abouts on the lift..

this is a full blown out race motor...ive been LUCKY enough to see one of these during the buildup becasue my uncle is the 2nd in command at the motor assembly shop in wixom...let me tell you, its not some thrown together small block...these parts are well race parts...i cant even explain the quality of the parts...i wouldnt even want to touch to crank on this rig...its absoluty worth the money...

i mean the heads are a masterpeice, flowing almost 400 cfm...this is hands down the most badaasss motor GMP has ever built...i was told that when it goes on sale in crate form it wont be as $$$ as people think..(i cant give the exact amount) but put it this way, you will not be able to build a motor with parts of this quality, for 3 grand MORE then what this will cost..and like i said its 300 bucks (cam) away from 650+ ponies...no need to worry about head restriction either

ohh and if you want to keep that 427 under wraps, the LS2/LS1/LS6 coil pack covers bolt on no problem...

" some thrown together small block" I would say people who spend time and money on building up their engines don't consider they just threw some parts together . The LS7 is a great engine but it can be surpassed powerwise .

Now do you have the specs on the cam? 150 hp increase with a cam change to the wheels? How big would the cam be

They are published now. This motor, as all GM motors, is really underrated. GM wanted it to have 3 valves per cylinder but they exceded their power goals by leaps and bounds. They brought it back to target with 2 valves. This motor is a monster combined with the best stock parts ever seen on a production small block. However, I bet the cost of the crate is still high enough where the same amount of money could get you more power with something else. It will be interesting to see how much it ends up costing.

ok well that was a figure of speech..i know what you mean..theres nothing like the pride in building a motor and hearing it fire up and knowing that it was your hard work that made it happen..what i meant was, this isnt just some off the shelf parts that were "thrown together"...these parts are race parts from the C5-r now C6-R race team...this is essentially a street legal race motor...yes i agree in CRATE form this motor can be overpowered by other motors...but the quailty of parts your getting in this LS7 is leaps and bounds above that of which come in other motors..how many aftermarket companies make titanium rods?...so yes in stock form you can make more power for less money but its a 300 dollar cam swap away from making INSANE power

Mike Matera my uncle told me and i quote "this is 427 cubes..you can stuff a lot of cam in it....a GM 847 for example would be mild in this motor" he went on to say "a big solid roller in the 250-260 range will really make it scream, and theres enough head to put out over 650 ponies then he said "the best part of it is, nothing other then tuning has to be done"

he has been builind motors for GM for over 20 years and he really knows his ****...his boss is the one who headed the LS1 development...My uncle built the first LS1...

shifty, with the 3 valves they were making a little over 560..and with the 2 valves its actually like 515-520...

ita not gonna cost as much as u think

427 aluminum small block, titanium rods, forged crank and cast pistons. I'd love one thats for sure, simply because I want a 427 small block, not because its an ls7 .

No one even knows if there will be LS7 crate engines. The LS7 is being hand built exclusively for the C6 Z06. So even if there is a crate engine, it will be pricey. The real power are in the heads, I want to get my hands on those
