Is It Worth It???
Im planing on doing the LS1 swap but the problem is that i live in cali. And there is alot of stupid stuff that i have to follow. So is it really worth it for the entire swap or should i go LT1 or even a TPI motor?

I'm not sure how anyone else can answer that question for you, except to say the opinions I've seen voiced here indicate all the LS1 guys love the results.

Okay, I assumed you knew what needed to be swapped over in order to be blessed by Kalifornia.
Everything.
Well, not the fuel tank itself, but otherwise, all the emissions related controls and equipment.
Then you have it checked by a motor change referee who applies a new barcode for future emissions checks.

so then it wont be that hard to do then with cali laws. You think i should go ask a referee to ask him what i would need to pass smog? thanks alot Bro for all the help? Does all the LS1 motors come with the emission stuff?

The engine/equipment will have to come out of a passenger car. There are some LS-type engines that are in light trucks that wouldn't cut it.
You might have to have an idea what year the donor system was, but the ref should be able to go over it with you.

I've heard that they do require the transmission from the donor system as well.

The T56 from the LS1's are different than the ones from the LT1's and the auto tranny's are different as well. They are a fully electronic (4L60E) tranny which the PCM controls the shifting of it unlike the 4L60 and 700R4.
