v6 v8 swap, will not shift into 1 or 2 gear
i thought there was only one way to connect the shifter cable to the tranny. i read in the haynes manual when i installed it that i needed to put shift it in to neutral and than connect the cable. i did so but now it will not go into 1 or 2 gear. it seems like the cable is not long enough. i dont think the shifter is different in the v6 car than in the v8. they look exactly the same. i even used the shift cable from the original v8 camaro it was in. it's probably something easy. i hope someone can help. thanks

Both the transmission and shifter need to be in the same "gear" when you attach and adjust the cable.

tranny
i have already pu them in the same gear when i tried to hook them up. the y don't match up. it seems like my cable is too short. i can't figure out why it will not work correctly because before i did the swap they hooked up fine. is something different on the v6 shifter or what. i also swapped the cable from the v8 car . i don't know.

The shifter is the same between cars, best thing to do is put the tranny in 1 with the shifter loose, then put the shifter in 1 and bolt up the cable.
