need a starter wire diagram

does anyone have a diagram or could tell me how to hook my starter up correctly. i swapped my v6 to a 305 tbi and i think i might have wired my starter wrong because i turn my key and i get nothing out of it, no noise. it does not even make a sound when i turn the key. i know my starter is good. maybe it's not the starter. i don't really know. help please!

This is for an 85 LG4, but they're all somewhat similar:

ME TOO!!

Hey,

I am having the same problem. I have it all wired up and nothing from the cranking side.

I am swapping a 350 into my V6, it is a 1991 Firebird.

1))) I have seen that diagram and I have wired it up as 2 fusible red wires to the battery post.....??? is this right.

Also, 2))) Trying to fully decipher that diagram, now I am wondering if I need a purple? wire attached to the S post? On the diagram I see 2 starter solenoids....or am I confusing myself.

3))))soo, I have a stock v6 wiring harness....how do you wire it, since my starter now has 3 posts.....Batt, S, and R.

Any info greatly appreciated!!

Thanks guys,
Franchise

They're in color in the factory service manuals, which someone has conveniently scanned and posted in the tech articles.

Klortho,

Great Diagram! I have the factory service manual...but it is hard to read...like the one posted previously. Which is that? Where did you get it from?

Anyway, What are the numbers next to
the color codes (ie, 3 ppl)?

This purple wire that needs to go to the starter, is it a thicker gauge than the rest of the wires in the harness....????.....is it thick like the red wires for the starter/positive?????

Thanks for the great help!!!

I'M AN IDIOT! I FOUND MY PROBLEM, MY GROUND WAS ON THE WRONG PEG ON MY STARTER, IT WAS WIRED TO THE ONE ON THE LEFT AS YOUR LOOKING AT THEM. THE PEG IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE ONE ON THE LEFT. I'M STUPID, MAYBE THAT COULD BE YOUR PROBLEM.
