Kick down cable/carb swap
What did you guys that swapped over from TPI to carb use for the kick down cable?
Mine snapped when I took it off so do you guys think I should get the same one or one from an older car with a carb?? Would it hurt it to run it without the kick down hooked up??
Right now I'm running a quadrajet but will probably switch over to an Edelbrock soon

yea you are definately gonna need the kickdown cable....if you do swap to an edelbrock carb, you can use a couple of their parts to hook it all up....
first off is the kickdown cable stud for the carburetor.....edelbrock sells a stud for like 5 bucks PN:8018...here is that part at summit racing
and for the bracket for your intake...well i have vortec heads and i have to get one specifically for the vortec manifold, but you can find them for the other style of intakes too....the one for mine is 40 bucks...and i think most of the others were about the same......
with using the stud and bracket like that you still have to make sure that the kickdown aka detent cable has the right amount of pressure throughout its range of motion......one good site that a fellow thirdgenner recommened to me was 700R4.com
in there they explain all of the geometries of the detent cable setup and also sell a kit for the edelbrock perfomer series carb....but i think its like 110 dollars so i am most likely going with the summitracing.com route when i do mine
hope this helps.....
