86 Motor Swap to my 91 Motor??
Hey guys just needed alittle advice being that im not much of a motor person. I have done all my visual stuff to my car so now i am moving on to the motor. Someone i know had an 86 Iroc motor that was rebuilt and never installed. They put a different cam in it and center bolt heads on it, which i know my TPI needs. I am getting it for 500 bucks without the intake so i basically planned on putting my TPI from my 305 onto the 350. Im just wondering what would be any problems if any using the 86 motor. The only thing i know is that it has a flat cam and mine has a roller. I am also getting the 21lb 350 injectors as well. Any adive on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Its illegal to put an older engine in your car (but unless you have to get it inspected, and such, ignore that one)
The flywheel is diffrent , the '91 engine had a 1 pc FW, this one has a 2 pc.
Im not 100% sure on that, others might shim in.
Good luck

'86 has one-piece rear main seal.
However, '86 IROC 350 doesn't add up. Make sure you're not getting a 305.

Yeah im not exactly possitive the year, i just know it was an older 80's motor. But it is forsure an L98 motor. It came out of one car and was put into a 88 GTA. Then before they got the intake on they ended up starting a different motor. So they are going to pull the motor out of the GTA and then i am going to get it. I just know it was rebuilt and has an engine works cam package in it as well as center bolt heads. Im getting it from a girl that works at THIRDGEN RESOURCE in Charlotte, i just live 2 hours from their. her boyfriend bought the parts and did the rebuilt himself because he is a service tech for a lincoln dealer. Their for he knows his stuff pretty well. I was just making sure i was gonna be good. I mean hell im gettin the motor for 500 bucks.

Check the casting number of the block before any money changes hands. Same for the heads. It sounds like it has a "history", and a trail that is not simple to follow. You could be getting ahold of a 305, as nothing you've said yet limits it to being a 350. And, I wouldn't necessarily trust a Lincoln dealer tech to know the differences between a "good" SBC and a dog.
One of the best reasons for "before they got the intake on they ended up starting a different motor" is they discovered it was really a 305.
