I'm in the process. GOt donor 87 engien & tranny & 84 harness from THIS beauty. $450 for it all, but still have to get a new/used radiator w/inlet/outlet on correct side, and afpr. Oh yeah, proper gauge cluster was included too.

networking is the key.

I got an engine and tranny for $250 but this is an unfair question because yeah it will only be $250 if you just throw it in but you have to actually replace certain things and now would be a good time to upgrade different things.
Plus all Gaskets, and the nickle and dime things.
Ive spent $2000 so far on my swap.
Ive spent hundreds of dollars on exhaust, dont really need too, id figure id get the best quality and performance now, so I wouldnt lose on the long run. Use your best judgment and do it right. This isn't a Yugo..

it all depends on how much you wanna spend and where your going with your combo. all three of my cars started as v6 cars and i swapped a v8 into all of them.

Finishing off mine right now.

Don't know....don't really want to care.

Just toss the reciepts in a folder and tally it up later.....

If you have the extra cash, awesome. If you are like most of us, putting this together on a shoestring budget...then it will be hard and may take some time.

Just don't put it on a credit card b/c you will pay it off forever!

I will post when I finish...if anyone is still interested.

As so often stated, getting the whole car, or having access to it and all its parts, is the best way. Then all you have to do is change over everything that's different. The cost is what you pay for the car (or the agreed on price for anything you need off of it), plus the "consumables" like oil, plugs, wires, hoses, antifreeze, etc.

well sofar i have around 1500-1700 in mine, i bought my car and the doner car out of a junk yard for 400 and 300, the motor and trany were free, the rest is in parts because i am replacing everything because i dont want to have to do this again for a wile, and i dont even have exaust, radiator, carb, yet

hope it helps, doing it piece by piece on a low budget will take forever, trust me

I'm not going from v6 to a v8, but I have close to 2500 in mine. I'm going from a 305(LO3) to a carbed 355. That includes new exhaust (stock) and cheap headers.
