i did this swap in my 87 a couple years back the transmission will not work, the v6 bellhousing will not bolt up. The way i did it was i got a wrecked car with a v8. i'd advise getting one that was rear ended. I got a car that was hit in the front so i just measured where to move the motor mounts and drilled my cross member to put them in the right place. If you do that feel free to contact me and i will help as much as i can.

I did the swap on my 87 firebird. its real easy i thought. all you need is a new tranny, fuel pressure regulator(if going carb), all necessary carb parts, move the motor mounts to the front two holes which are already drilled(so thats easy), exhaust. It is easy to have a v8 donor car like my 88 which i had wrecked but other than those things theres not much else. One last thing is that the 87 v6 didnt come with any sort of smog equipment except for the cat of course. It made it a lot easier for emissions let me tell you. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. Id post some pics but im in Iraq right now so I dont have access to my computer at home.
