Lay it on me...

Looking for the project of all projects.

My goals: Take a thirdgen, make it a hot rod, simple as that. I don't care how many years it takes. Keep in mind emissions are being completely ignored, as its going to be the track/weekend warrior.

I want to know whats the best route of what car to buy.I definetly want a carbed small block chevy V8 motor. No computers, no harnesses, nothing... What kind of thirdgen should I buy that makes this swap the easiest.

A nice cheap HIGH milage V6 from the south. Preforably the 91-92 models. They got assembled with expoxy and tack welds instead of just welds alone.

Nice no rust body, thats pretty much it. If you really wanna make a worrior you will not be using the engine that is in there anyways.

My car is pretty much becoming what you described. Exeot I wanna be that crazy bastard that drives his weekend worrior to work every now and then, lol.

Chekc my site to get an idea. And notice that there is not 1 piece stock or unmoded on the car. hehe.

just about.

Later,
-Dennis

Exactly how I'd like to do it. I don't have a garage, so I'm looking for something with absolutely no rot at all.

Ebay, ebay, ebay.....then bite the bullet and have it shipped. Strip it in a weekend and coat the entire chassis with POR-15 after you have stripped it of undercoating. This will give u and exelent shell to preform your buildup. I dunno what kind of facilities you might have but a couple of friends and a weekend and you can easily rip these cars appart down to the shell. I did the interior in a day, by myself. Syspention in a matter of hours, by myself. I have done all the work on my car 100% by my self. If you have a friend, things will get done super fast.

I might not strip the interior, or if its in crappy condition, replace it. I do want the full interior, but yes the suspension is undoubtedly getting done, the rear as well. Don't need that torque arm garbage.

HUH???

So you wanna do a custom 4 link or something? Unless you do that, you NEED that TQ arm. What do you have planned?

I was saying to strip the enterior to better prep the body to last forever. You are going to want to check for rust under the carpet.

Then put it all back in. I would highly recomend it.

Oh absolutely! I just want the full interior. If I replace it, the chassis is definetly being checked/repaired/preserved for life if I do.

I was also confused about that statment. It is kinda strange i guess. I dunno. Gets in the way of true duals maybe. I have no idea why it is garbage.

something along the lines of a Southside Machine Lift Bar setup, or the Lakewood Traction Action Lift Bars will allow you to eliminate the torque arm. actually leaving it there will hinder the movement of the suspension, as both setups alter the Instant Center of the suspension. leaving the torque arm in, you effectively have two suspension setups both working against each other.

I am aware. I have seen a few guys around here running those. Seem nice, but get really low and I am not too sure about how well they run on the street for a long time. I have allways seen them on preatty dedicated race cars. hope it works for you.

Just as a side note there are extreamly fast cars with TQ arms. Check bmrfabrications website. They have a car that is poping a wheelie so bad all 4 tires are off the ground. Crazy camaro.
