1991 RS Camaro 305TBI TO A 350TBI

Ok I want to swap my engine since it is smoking at startup and its just too slow for my liking.. These are the things I want to know, and if you fellow F-Body members would help me I would greatly appreciate it.

1. Do I have to change the Computer? (ECM)
2. Would the Computer Harness have to be replaced? (Meaning taking the Dash off and replacing all the wires that go to the engine)?
3. Would I have to change the Guage Cluster?
4. Change the Drive Shaft?
5. Change the Rear Axle with a Posi Traction one?
6. Change the motor mounts?
7. Change the torque arm?
8. Change the intank fuel pump?

Thanks!

My goal is to reach 350hp I was thinking of accomplishing this by doing the following!: Please anyone feel free to correct or add anything I may have written

Boring/Polishing the Heads
Bore out the Engine
Installing a comp cams camshaft of some sort?(please suggest what kind?!!)
getting some high performance rocker arms(please suggest some!!)
ceramic coating the pistons from the top
getting some high performance rocker arms (please suggest some!!)
high performance pistons (please suggest some!!)
Replacing stock radiator with aluminum radiator

With everything I mentioned above should I Reach at least passed 300hp ?

1. If you keep TBI No
2. If you keep TBI No
3. No
4. If you are keeping the same tranny no
5. If you want
6. Couldnt hurt to replace them while your there
7. No as long as you still have the same tranny
8. Yes... Walbro 255 work fine

For the rest I would go with the GM 350 H.O. crate engine with out intake system. Pick up some headers you be around 350.

Your gonna want a biger intake manifold and 350 TBI intake or 454 TBI. eBay has both of those pretty cheap.

#1 is a "Yes". As in, reprogram the PROM.

Check out the stickies at the top of the TBI forum. The factory set-up is speed density, and a little change such as a 45-50 cubic inch increase will throw it for a loop.

As for your 2nd set of questions: Porting the heads depends upon what heads you're starting with, with regard to whether or not it would help. "Bore out" the engine is a rebuild thing, to bring the cylinders into spec with regard to piston-to-wall clearance, taper, and finish. It isn't a "power" thing per se.

Any reason you need two sets of performance rocker arms?

Wait I did buy the current INTAKE MANIFOLD from e-bay it said it could fit both 305 and 350 engines, so it should work fine right?? or no?

Fit, yes. Whether the larger TB will fit, maybe, maybe not.

Again, check the TBI forum stickies for more details. These questions are all covered.

You don't have to change the computer just update it for say. Look into PROM burning its very important on TBIs.

Please try to use the search function. This topic has been dealt with extensivly and the answers are out there. Your list is a bit miss guided and you need to do some reading.

The main things that you will need will be

CHIP work
350 injectors
350 knock sensor
350 ESC module
CHIP work
High capacity fuel pump (TPI or walbro will suffice)
CHIP work

Oh and did I mention chip work?

Everything else can be re-used from your old motor. Your intake and TBI unit size will depend on heads and cam you choose.

It may be a good time to prep the rest of your car before you add more power. It would be wise to upgrade your rear to a limited slip as well as improving it with some traction aiding suspension mods. I would also do the chip work now on your 305 so that you can properly learn how to tune a TBI set-up. Starting on a stock motor will allow you to see how certian changes effect things. You can always go back to the stock tune as you learn and have your car run perfect. You won't be able to do this on a new motor if you have no tuning experience.

EDIT: Smoke on start-up is usally a simple valve seal job.
