Is a fuel return line restriction needed?

When switching over to a carbed motor do you need to put in a restriction in the return line to keep from starving the carb? I done that in my s10 v8 conversion and everything worked fine. Is it needed in the camaro swaps as well? In the v6 to v8 "stucky" what is the most common way to lower the pressure? I have a pressure regulator but how do I actually do it? Or can I just restrict the return line like in my s10?

I'm going to using the Mllory 4309 afpr (just won on e-bay w/guage ) plus I'd think a restriction n the return line would boost pressure.

Mallory (mrgasket.com) has their instructions for the 4309 on their website, but it doesn't realy say how to hook up the gauge to verify the fp has been lowered to what it needs to be.

You can restrict it if you like. You will have to have some return to keep from burning out the pump, that's all.

You can regulate the pressure to the carb with an inexpensive dead-head reg, and put a needle valve in the return before the reg. You'll want the pressure to maintain 6 psi at the highest load, while maintaining some flow back to the tank under no load.

A return style reg is a lot easier.
