98-02 F-body help...i know its not 3rd gen!

Does anyone know how a big block Mark IV (396 Mark IV for example) would fit in a 98-02 firebird?? Is it somewhat possible?? I've got a 396 bored over to a 402 and want to look into finding a 98-02 firebird to put it in...

thanks

Isnt it illegal to put an older block in a late model car ?

Anyhow, just with the LT1 going a bit under the winshield due to the car's design, I cant imagine a much bigger engine in there, but hey.. Its all about $$

The big block should use the same mount location as the LT1 motors did... if the '98+ cars can still have LT1 mounts installed, then do that and drop the big block onto those.

I don't know if it will be too tall or not though...

It will be a pain making the distributer fit without cutting up the fire wall.

I believe the legality changes from state to state. As long as the old engine can be brought up to the emissions standards of the vehicle year, that's the bulk of it.

It is illegal in all 50 states. Enforcement is what varies from locale to locale.

However, the Board standard is 3rd gen. So,
