Engine Swap Help
Hello,
I have a 1989 Firebird Formula w/ the original 305 TBI motor in it. I built up a '79 350 small block before I purchased the car, and I wanted to look into putting this motor in. I was looking at both engines, and it seems that the front components (alternator, water pump, pwr steering pump, etc) of the 305 won't just bolt on to the 350. Is this correct? Are there any adaptor kits available?
Thanks in advanced
Steve

They should as long as the 350 heads have the accessory bolt holes on the end, as most all SBC heads did starting with 1968 or so.

Everything should bolt right up, assuming the heads are later than 1970 as mentioned. I have a 1969 350 block, but mid 1970's heads, and everything bolted right in. You may need a different flywheel or starter - I chose older starter for mine (I wish I had changed flywheels now - the older starter is larger and comes much closer to my headers) - but it all works.
