305 2-pice to 350/330HO 1-piece
Well my little 305 bit the dust I think something got clogged in the oil pump and it spun a bearing, so now’s the time for a new motor. I want something fun so I’m gonna go wit the 350/330ho now I have a 2-pice rear main car so this leads to my questions. I need to get a 1-pice flex plate so I think the 84's had 153 tooth flexplates right? And the balancer I have right now is brand new like 6months old can I reuse it? I'm trying to keep this as cheap and simple as possible I have a parts list here if anyone cares to take a look. Please mention if you know something better or if I can just reuse something from mine. Anything not listed is being used from my car. Also i need to now about that flexplate tooth number ASAP if anyone knows?? This is my daily driver so since its sitting all I can do is sit.

A Pioneer PIO-FRA160 flexplate (yes, 153-tooth) is $47.39.
I believe you can get the HO for less from other sources (Summit lists it at $2400 - where did you get that price?).
The CRT-M6626 Carter fuel pump is working fine for me. Includes the return port, nice thing to have.

The pump may be fine, but for $18, you don't have to worry about it.

Well I received the money later than anticipated so I just ordered the parts yesterday for a grand total of 3434.49 shipped. I ended getting the motor locally so if something happens within the warranty period I can just take it here locally. I hope to have everything in and running by Friday or the following Monday/Tuesday?? Wish me luck :-)

Careful. Without modification, the heads can't take a whole lot of lift. Beehive springs tend to help, but don't address the press-in rocker stud pull-out vulnerability. Best approach is to remove the heads and have the studs pinned or replaced with screw-in, and cut the guides for positive seals and more "standard" performance springs.

Well its in and running WOOT WOOT. It also moves under its own power but, there’s always a but. Well we decided to fix the leaking diff cover well we opened it and there were quiet a few teeth lying in the bottom
. So now I am waiting on an overnight shipment from Jeg’s with a new auburn posi and a set of 3:73 gears.
. Can’t wait to get my car back on the road its goanna be fun
. And I can also confirm that a Vortec RPM Air-gap with Moroso air filter and poly motor mounts does fit under the stock hood of a Camaro. The cleaner lid pushes on the insulation a little but nothing serious. So if anyone was wondering about fitment it fits great!! I should get to drive it tomorrow

Is the Moroso a 14x3 drop base? If so, which model number do you have?

Moroso Low Profile Racing Air Cleaner Part number MOR-65902 this is the part number for the blue(comes in like 5 colors) one witch I got. It is a 14x3 with a 1" drop base. It also fits fine over my Demon carburetor with no linkage interference.

I got to drive it today!!!
Wow the car takes off like a rocket ship! compared to my 305.. And those 3:73 gears only increased my RPM by about 500 at 65 witch isnt bad.. Now if i can get through the breakin period without playing around
... Kinda nice to feel that kind of power lolzz

I tried the Moroso air cleaner on my car (ordered in from Jeg's). The hood wouldn't close, so I'm back to my 14x2/12.

I wouldn't have thought that my intake was taller, which is why I was excited about the Moroso. I measured the Moroso against the stock GM piece (which came with the engine) and it was the same, about 1 inch. Been considering the Holley Hi-Tek Twin Side Draft air cleaner, but the expense is considerable--pretty cool looking though. Can't find any flow numbers on it, and rumor is that it doesn't flow well. Perhaps 1 1/2 drop base would do the trick.

GMPP Highrise Vortec intake 12366573 is 5.375" @ tallest point
Edelbrock RPM and RPM Air-gap intake is 4.92" at tallest point
This is probably why it did not fit... A difference of .455 so you'll need about 1/2 more of a dropbase than you currently have I guess...

Well, you're absolutely correct. The part number you provide is the intake I have. I wonder if a 2 1/2 inch element with a 1 inch drop would provide as much air as a 3 inch element with a 1 1/2 inch drop?
