305tbi to 350 card..just a few ?'s
Ok, I have a 1989 camaro RS. The 305 tbi is getting pretty weak and I just got done building a 420hp 350. I want to put it in the camaro. I want to get rid of the tbi and egr systems. The 350 has a carb on it. Some one was telling me that the speedometer is controlled by the computer system and will not work when I do the conversion. I was just wondering what you guys do. Is there a harness I have to buy cause I want to get ride of the computer and all.
thanks,
Justin

My 89 Camaro (Formerly LO3 TBI) has a gear driven speedometer not at all controlled by the combuter. Here is what it looks like after the switch to carb:

hilliusracing31, welcome aboard.
The VSS is separate from the ECM. Those cars with a transmission-mounted VSS have a module that is not dependant upon an operational ECM.

i have a 88 iroc and i guess you answered my questions with the speedo but i have 29 inches in the back plus i will be putting in 342s in the rear so i have no choice but to get a programable speedo right?autometer is the only one i could find since i need a three and five eighths hole.

Your going to have to find out if your car has A speed buffer box that is seprate or if its built into the ecm. If it built into the ecm you going to have to get a speed buffer.
