350 from a truck or van?

Are the 87 & up truck 350's roller cam blocks and 1 piece crank seal or no? Will the heads bolt to a 91 TPI base? i need a 350 longblock for my new Formula project and I'm checking the local yards to see whats out there. Are the 350tbi heads different from L98 heads? Thanks for the help.

Yes, they will bolt up to a 91 TPI base.

Yes, TBI heads are different than TPI heads.

i have a 1991 block out of the 91 suburban we junked. they are roller blocks and one piece rear main seals. The heads are swirl ports and don't flow like L98 heads, but they are easy to find one out of the boneyards. Also sometimes pulling out the stock lifters out of the block is difficult since the roller blocks have non-roller lifters installed which can mushroom the lifter bored a bit and make lifter removal a real pain. I so far have only removed 4 lifters out of 16 out of that block with 112k on it and oil changed every 2500 miles. I have the lifter puller tool, I'm about ready to use a slide hammer on them.

If and when I have that problem i pull the lifters up until they stick, then pull the cam out and gently knock the lifters down into the cam bore. its easier and does less potential scoring to the lifter bores. I would only do this though if your going to replace the cam bearings because you run the risk of hitting and knicking one. once they are in the cam bore you can pull them out with a magnet. they go down fine, just not up from the varnish on the bottom of the lifters

Thanks for the info guys. I found a complete TPI 350 from a 87 bird at a boneyard and its for a real good price so I will probably go for that and then sell off the spare TPI Intake for some cash
