driveshaft, i had one made at a driveshaft shop stock diameter but a couple sizes thicker wall and it twisted up. so then i went to fleetpride and had one made that will never break even if i go to a nos big block. spohn for frame conectors, the rest from summit. summit has great service and fast shipping. ive bought thousands of dollars worth from them for the bird and my jeep, truck, etc.

ps if your on a budget id hold off and get everything converted and running well before you spend money on heads and cam. the extras get very costly.

still, you'll want to have the trans done, TQ, drive shaft, gears, lim slip, axles, frame conectors, trans conversion kit, airbags, rear shocks. i would consider these minimums for a 383. if you are going to get slicks you need a driveshaft loop. spohn has a kit to convert the crosmember for a 350 while giving you a mount for the tourque arm and a loop. i wish i went that way initially. thats not counting anything in the engine bay. you'll need a fuel presure regulator, radiator, and various hoses, lines, and cables

You're 16, you'll be heartbroken if you drive that car you spent all that money and time on making fast, in a ditch.

Just drive your V6. I'm 17, still saving for my thirdgen ($3300 saved) and the main reason I'm not getting a GTA is so I don't get devastated when I drive it into a ditch. Keep in mind, I have above average driving skills for my age.

Not to mention, there is a guide for going from V6 to V8 above. It's not cheap, much cheaper to start with a V8 car.

My two cents

I wouldnt say that its cheaper to go with a v8 car to start with, just less work. If you are stepping up to a 383 combo or something like that, you would want to replace just about everything you would when doing the v6 > v8.

Youve lose me here. If its a race car, it really doesnt matter. Everything that makes a difference between the two will be replaced. Get whichever you can get the cheapest deal on, and run with it.

Expect to change everything. Mounts, trans, radiator, exhaust, etc.

The guy I know is Tom at House of Camaro: http://www.houseofcamaro.com/

This guy's entire life is taking apart camaros, trans ams and firebirds and selling off the parts for very reasonable prices. He's exceptionally knowledgeable, very well organized and really friendly too. I swapped my 2.8 V-6 for with a 355 TPI and a lot of the small B.S. parts that I needed I got from him (fuel injector retainer clips, special bolts, screws, pullies, brackets, etc.). He's got it all.

Good luck. Oh, and buy yourself a lot of hard liquor - you're gonna need it for this project.
