91 RS TBI to TPI swap wiring woes..
Well, we're almost done the swap, but didn't expect to run into this. Was wondering if you guys could help me.
Car is a 91 RS 305 TBI 5spd. It got swapped out for a 1990 (probably more like a 1991) 305 TPI 5 spd from a FIREBIRD.
Didn't have any problems with the wiring underneath the hood. We lengthened all the necessary harnesses that needed to be modified (with the firebirds having the battery on the driver's side instead of the passenger side).
Our only problem is the wiring harness at the ECM. Currently, the engine won't turn over (has fuel pressure) and we've concluded that it's the middle wiring harness at the ECM that's the problem.
The 305 TPI motor came with the original ECM and wiring harness, so it's not like we've kept the old harness and ECM and tried to modify those.
We've noticed that there are some differences in the body harness that plugs to the ECM harness. But we don't know which ones to switch to make it all jive (am I making sense here?).
Can anyone help me out with the wiring? thanks!
I've got the 92 Camaro GM service manual, but that's about it.
