LT1 with Vortech Supercharger?
Hello everyone, I'm new here. I have an 87 IROC with a 95 LT1 engine (built motor). I purchased a Vortech S trim kit for it as the motor has been built for boost. My problem is the kit does not fit in the 3rd gen and the blower goes right where the steering box is. I tried a set of 3rd gen mounting brackets but they also will not work as they do not fit the LT1. I am currently installing a tubular k-member and looking to covert to rack and pinion steering to rid myself of the steering box, in hope of having room for the blower. I was wondering if anyone on this site has done a supercharged LT1 in a 3rd gen and how it was done.

I don't know if it will work but you might look into Corvette front accessories and brackets. I had a '94 Vette with a S-trim supercharged LT-1 and the supercharger was on the passenger side of the engine. Another option is to look in to converting to manual steering from an S-10 truck. I don't know if it will give you enough clearance but it's an idea.
Just a helpful hint... I found the stock hat on the supercharger (metal air intake cover) to be restrictive. I replaced the entire intake with uniform diameter plastic tubing and got an extra 3 psi at the manifold for a total of 12 psi of boost. The result was an extra 75Hp at the wheels for a total of 420 RWHP on pump gas with stock injectors and computer. Much more potential if I had just tuned the fuel and timing. But regardless the car ran a best of 12.2 @ 122 mph on street tires. Never used slicks or drag radials. I got the tubing from Anderson motor sports in Illinois (Ford dealer specializing in high performance Mustangs). It doesn't matter what you get. Just buy some elbows and straight sections and cut them to fit using a hack saw. You can join the pieces together with silicone tubing and heavy duty band clamps. Just give Anderson Motor Sports a call and they will get you set up.
Good luck!
