ford v8 can it be done

Hi yall I have a ford v8 4.8 from a gt mustang that has come in to my keeping. I was wondering if any of yall have or know if it is possible to put that engine and a t45 5 speed tranye in to a 3th gen. info 4.6L 281ci V8 260hp @ 5250, 302lb-ft @ 4000

9.0:1 compression, T45 5-speed manual transmission 3.37, 1.99, 1.33, 1.00, 0.67 with final drive of 3.27

Yes, it's possible. It's not even all that much work. You'll need to fab motor mounts, and a trans crossmember, as well as sort out details like exhaust, guages and wiring. If your modivated and have a welder, it would be a fun swap. Definatly not another one of millions of identical 350's.

Im sure it could be done as coach hawk said, but I dont really see why you would want to. Its performance is close to that of an l98, it is probably heavy (if it is an overhead cam modular), and you would have to tend to other little things like fuel delivery, computer (well.. thats a huge thing), exhaust and instrumentation. It would also be expensive and kill the resale value of your third gen. Other than the unique factor, and the fact that it would sound killer I dont really see this being worthwhile. Im not trying to discourage you or anything, Im sure it would be a fun project, but with any swap you have to weigh out the pros and cons. Just my

Well I have a free rolled 2002 mustang and a 1989 t top trans am with no motor or trany that I picked up as a sound donor for my 1989 formula fire bird. I have actually needed no parts from the car so I was wondering if I could fit the mustang parts with only 15k on them in and have 2 running f bodies. And with 260 hp from the motor see how it would run. has any one done this or am i flying in the dark.

sell that drivetrain. seriously 2 valves are more expensive to make power. Just sell it and build a 350+ SBC man. also, that trans should be a 3650. T45's ended production in mid 01.
