Im buildin a BBc and I purchased aftermarket Milodon 4 bolt main conversion kit. The front cap is very large and when i bought it it said minor mods may be required to make it fit and i called and they said a little grinding is all u have to do. Well i purchased a 5 qt. milodon stock replacement 5 qt. pan and the front caps are too big for me to get the oil pan on. I hammered on it a little and spent some time grindin on it. It helped a little and i can get the oil pan on down to about 3/4 in. from the bottom of the block, but theres not much more room to be grinded on and i dont want the pan to leak. Anybody have any ideas on what i can do. I was thinkin of having a friend weld it but im worried about the blt holes not lining up or the pan leaking. Please help

cut out a section of the pan and have some metal welded to fill in the area needed. shouldn't be too hard a task, and as for the oil pan leaking, it shouldn't warp the pan seal, although you could always run the "bars" that factory pans have that add clamping force onto it and keep the pan straighter. Most SBCs had them from the factory, they're like two long sections of 1/8" steel that go below the pan holes.
