Time ha$ come to replace 305! HELP!!

I have a 1991 RS with 135,000 miles showing and I'm ready to replace the engine. The car is basically worthless but it's mine and it's used quite a bit during the winter to keep the '01 Z28 convertible out of harm's way.

I will be looking for a good used V8 to swap in here locally. Since the A/C no longer works, I want to eliminate it altogether. I want to retain the 700 r-4 auto if possible, and either eliminate or replace the catalytic converter. Here's the crazy part...I have this desire to put in a V8 from a Cadillac, hopefully an Escalade. I know an LS1 swap would be ideal, and I'll probably go with whatever is available, practical and above all affordable but the idea of a rusted, debauched and ragged old Camaro with a Caddy engine is not only hilarious but it's sort of unique and would make the car go a hell of a lot faster.

Has anybody here had any experience with something like this? If so, I can use any and all information you have to share. The swap will be done by a professional shop (extended-family owned.) Any other suggestions would also be appreciated.

Thank you.

I'm not positve on this, but doesn't the Escalde have an LS style motor? Like a 4.3 L Vortec, same as the suburbans and trucks?

yup. (JudgeThis from BCM) it uses the 6.0 truck motor (iron block/alum. heads) but not the 6.0 LS2 and 243 casting LS6/LS2/LS4 heads. Basically if you wanna call it from a cadillac, go ahead, but it's nothing caddy specific or special.

no "cadillac" motor here. just corporate Gen III/IV SBCs
