Looking for some input

hey guys,

Well the time has come where I need to do some motor work on the old show car.

Now, what I am wondering is this. I am going to go with a crate motor. Its the easiest option for me and also the cheapest.

Now all I want to know is, how hard will it be (time consuming) for the switch of tpi to carb?

The reason I am going to carb, cleaner looking engine bay and the few crate motors come carb ready and I think my mass air flow sensor is dead.

Is it worth it?

I have now a 305 tpi (g92) with a 5spd (235hp and 387ft lbs dynoed) and Im going with a 350 4 bolt 325hp and 390ft lbs (however I will play with these numbers once I get the motor in my possession)

I am taking it to someone to get the switch done. Also, with that t5 world class hold a 400hp motor?

Thanks

The T5 will hold up behind a 400 HP engine, as long as you never do a clutch dump or speed shift.

Here's a decent TPI crate engine 360 HP TPI Vortec Custom High Performance Series Street and Strip Engine :: SD360VTPI - SDPC .

How hard is it to swap from EFI to carb? Read all about it https://www.thirdgen.org/carbswap .

I have switched from fuel injection to a carb and the process is not to painful and I think it is totally worth it in my opnion. As you said alot cleaner looking engine bay and they are much easier and cheaper to repair. Just my personal preference though.

I said carb, due to the cheapness and ease of tuning. Simplicity, etc.
